We met the amazing owner and staff at Leeward Industries this summer when they enthusiastically agreed to employ three of our juniors enrolled in our new Summer Employability Program. To add to that, they gave us a generous holiday gift this month by donating $2,000 to Whittier Tech’s Educational Fund. The money will go toward educational supplies and equipment outside the school budget for students who need them.

The Newburyport company runs thrift stores — Leeward Light and Leeward Landing — in Salisbury and York, ME. Opened in 2009 by Salisbury resident Rob Werner, they have since donated $2 million to local charities that provide food, clothing, furniture, heating oil and more to families.
