Machine Technology students are champions of Canned Food Drive again

Advanced Manufacturing Technology.....Had 32 participants  contribute in the 2018 Whittier Can Drive .....3 participants were Machine Tool Technology - Night School Students....

We had 100% shop participation for a total of 1011 Cans.....All Time Best Shop Record!

Machine Technology students surpassed all of their previous totals and collected 1,101 cans for Whittier’s Annual Canned Food Drive. Senior Andrei Allen alone donated 161 cans.

“Our students understand that no matter how bad things can get at home there is someone who may have it harder and it could be a fellow student,” said Machine Technology Instructor Paul Moskevitz. “Learning to be a machinist and have solid employability skills is important, but having a giving heart and helping those less fortunate is just as important. This is one of the most important lessons they have learned. ”

Health and Physical Education Teacher Roxanne Grover organizes the drive each year. Nearly 2,000 cans were collected this year, and they will all be donated to local food pantries. Machine Technology students enjoyed a free breakfast this morning to celebrate their win in this friendly competition.
