Military father surprises two daughters

Freshmen Haly and Cora Lara got a huge surprise today when their dad, whom they had not seen in 11 months, was waiting for them after they left a meeting in the guidance office.

After expressions of shock crossed their faces, they rushed to hug him and all three cried together as they embraced. U.S. Army Captain Pedro Lara serves in the 3/126th Aviation Battalion S4 and was deployed to Kosovo to support Operation Joint Guardian.

“I am so surprised and happy,” said Haly. “I missed him.” She recently wrote an essay in English class about her father who is her hero. Both girls were thrilled to hear they were being dismissed for the day to spend time with their dad.

Director of Guidance Kristine Morrison arranged the meeting after she was contacted by Captain Lara.
