Students and staff are encouraged to donate gently worn coats of all sizes, including baby, youth, and adult. Breaking barriers and building her future, Maria Zammitti found her path in Whittier Tech’s Plumbing & Heating program—a trade she hadn’t originally envisioned for herself. Today, as a Journeyman Plumber with Local 12 (JC Higgins), Maria continues to prove that confidence, skill, and perseverance open doors to incredible opportunities.
“Whittier has helped me get to where I am today by giving me the chance to get out of my comfort zone and try a trade I wouldn’t normally picture myself in.”
Her story reflects the strength of Whittier’s hands-on learning and the courage it takes to step into something new.

Thanks to everyone who brought The Island of Misfit Toys to life — especially Art instructor Paul Murray and our Art program, who work hand-in-hand with Carpentry each year to make the float happen. HVAC, Electrical, Metal Fab, and Masonry also pitched in to help bring this year’s float to life. ❤️💛

These hands-on training opportunities are open to Massachusetts residents, ages 18+, who are unemployed or underemployed and interested in launching a full-time career in a technical trade.

⏱️ Total Hours: 200 hours of hands-on training
🔧 Program Options: Advanced Manufacturing, Auto Body, Carpentry, Electrical, Construction, Culinary Arts, Plumbing, Marine Technology, and Welding
