On Monday, April 14, a dedicated group of Whittier Tech students and staff collaborated with The Clean River Project to clean up the shores of the Merrimack River, and their impact was remarkable. In just a few hours, the team collected an impressive 750 pounds of trash and debris, demonstrating their commitment to giving back and protecting our local environment. 🚨🏆 Whittier Tech Wins Best In Show! 🏆🚨 Our students took home Best In Show at the MassCTE Conference this past weekend with their incredible bench-to-table combo, "A Change in Plans"—and they were SO close to winning Most Creative too! 👏👏 What started as a tough challenge—combining a bench and picnic table into one functional design—turned into an award-winning project that tested and expanded students' skills in welding, blueprint reading, geometry, and problem-solving. 💬 "This was one of the coolest projects I got to work on in shop, and I am so proud of my teammates and the hard work we put into the bench." – Adrian Angeloni, Grade 11 💬 "It was exciting to come to shop and look forward to something every day. This week, CBI a Terex Brand - came out to meet with the ESOL Welding adult education students to discuss their company and the work they do. Students learned so much from the presentation and even walked away with hard hats from the company as well. Big thank you CBI a Terex Brand for the visit! The student group is accompanied by Welding Instructor, Chris Gerber. This program is in partnership with Community Action, Inc. made possible by a MassSTEP grant opportunity.
