🌟 Whittier Pride shines bright at the 17th Annual YMCA Educator of the Year Awards! 🌟

Three Whittier educators were honored for their dedication and impact: Tjitse Boringa (Culinary), Elizabeth Devenney (English), and Paul Moskevitz (Vocational Coordinator). 👏

Three Whittier students, Lila Combs, Skylar Cyr, and Lillian DesOrmeaux, were recognized as teens who embody the Y’s four core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. 💫

We’d also like to extend a special thank-you to our student readers, Sophia Jones, Karen Gomez, and Rachelis Ozorio, for helping make the night so meaningful. ❤️💛

🍂 Leave the Leaves! 🍂

Each weekend this fall, the sound of leaf blowers fills the air—but have you ever wondered what happens if you just let the leaves be? It may seem simple, but leaving the leaves does incredible things for nature!

Whittier’s Environmental Club encourages our community to “leave the leaves” to support the insects, bees, birds, and small animals that rely on leaf litter for warmth and shelter during the winter. Even raking leaves into garden beds or under trees can make a difference. 🌿

Let’s work together to protect habitats and help nature thrive! 🌎

✨ Hands-On Hospitality ✨

On Wednesday, October 29, Hospitality Management students had the opportunity to job shadow at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Exeter, N.H.!

Accompanied by their instructors, Mrs. Grupposo and Mr. Kedian, students explored hotel operations firsthand—inspecting rooms, making beds, folding towels, and learning what it takes to keep a limited-service hotel running smoothly.
A special thank-you to Angelica, the General Manager, and her team for welcoming our students, sharing insights about hotel management, and treating everyone to breakfast favorites from the continental buffet. 🛎️
