Happy Fourth of July
☀️ The Kindness Challenge is back this summer!

This year, we're introducing Whittier in the Wild, a new summer series highlighting the many ways Whittier students, staff, alumni, and families are spreading kindness in their communities.

Whether you're working a summer job, volunteering, traveling, spending time with family, learning a new skill, or simply making someone's day a little brighter, we want to see it.

Throughout the summer, we'll feature photos from across the Whittier community showing how kindness continues long after the school year ends.

📸 To participate, send us a photo by email or DM and tell us:
• Who you are
• What you're doing this summer
• How you're making a positive impact

Email wt_pr@whittier.tec.ma.us or send us a direct message on Facebook or Instagram

Let's keep the spirit of the Kindness Challenge going all summer long.

How well do you know your classmates? Turns out, pretty well!

As a fun end-of-year activity, students in Señora DiMauro’s Grade 9 Español classes voted for their classmates in a variety of “Los Superlativos de Clase” categories. Some students even tied for the honors, proudly sharing their paper plate awards with one another.

A great way to celebrate the friendships, personalities, and memories that made this school year special.

✨ Wildcat Wednesday ✨

This week, we are proud to recognize Dave Cunningham, a longtime member of the Whittier Tech community whose impact spans decades.

From 1987 to 2011, Dave served as an instructor in the Data Processing and Office Tech Shop, where technology changed quickly, and students learned skills for an evolving world. Over the years, he also coached basketball, track, and cross country, served as a class and club advisor, and continued supporting students through Whittier’s Adult Evening Education program.

Dave remains proud of Whittier graduates and the ways they contribute to their families and communities. He is especially proud of the Night School team, instructors, administrators, and students who have helped make the program one of the state’s exemplary evening vocational programs.

Outside of Whittier, Dave enjoys traveling, downhill skiing, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

His advice to students: “Put down your technology and smell the roses.”

This past weekend, a small delegation of Whittier Tech staff participated in the 15th Annual Flag Day 5K in Newburyport, honoring the legacy of 1st Lt. Derek Hines and supporting Massachusetts service members and their families who have experienced life-altering injuries while serving our country.

Flags and banners lined the course, each representing a member of the community who made the ultimate sacrifice. Among those honored was Whittier Tech alumnus Private First Class Evan O'Neill.

Thank you to the organizers and participants who continue to keep the memories and sacrifices of our nation's heroes alive.

Wildcat Wednesday: Andy Bonifacio 🐾

As a School Adjustment Counselor, Andy Bonifacio plays a vital role in supporting students through both everyday moments and life’s more complex challenges, helping them build confidence, resilience, and a sense of direction.

Now in his fourth year at Whittier Tech, Andy brings a steady, thoughtful presence to his work. He is also fluent in Spanish, providing an important connection for students and families who feel more comfortable communicating in their first language.

Outside of school, Andy enjoys staying active and traveling, always finding ways to recharge and bring that energy back to the students he supports.

His advice to students is simple but powerful: you may not control what happens to you, but you always have control over how you respond. That is where your power lives.
