Making a difference, one diaper at a time.
Students in Whittier Tech’s SkillsUSA chapter recently led a monthlong community diaper drive to support local families in need. In partnership with Saint Vincent de Paul, students organized, promoted, and collected donations through a schoolwide effort that showcased both leadership and compassion.
As part of the project, students also visited Saint James Parish to see firsthand how donations are distributed to families. Through this experience, they gained a deeper understanding of the real impact their work has on the community.
“This project showed me how something as simple as collecting diapers can make a real difference for families,” shared senior Sofia Deiuls. “Seeing the impact firsthand was incredibly rewarding.”
Through service, teamwork, and meaningful community connections, these students exemplify what it means to be part of the Workforce of Tomorrow.

Last Friday, our Multicultural Club transformed the main lobby into a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and connection. From festive decorations and upbeat music to dancing, singing, face painting, and games, Culture Night truly brought the world to Whittier 🌎✨
Students and families hosted beautifully decorated tables representing 11 countries, each filled with artifacts, flags, photos, and incredible homemade dishes. Attendees explored cultures from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Greece, The Netherlands, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Scotland, Tunisia, Cameroon, Ecuador, Haiti, and many others, learning new words, traditions, and stories along the way.
Highlights included hands-on experiences like learning the Brazilian game Peteca, trying dominoes at the Dominican table, trying on authentic Dutch wooden clogs, Greek dancing, Tunisian belly dancing, and Bachata lessons that got everyone moving! Guests also sampled delicious foods like empanadas, coquito, stroopwafels, harissa and pita, shortbread, and so much more.

Whittier Tech will administer the English Language Arts MCAS for sophomores on Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25.
Grade 10 students should report at their regular time.
Grades 9, 11, and 12 will follow a three-hour delayed schedule.
Students should report to homeroom between 10:20 and 10:43 a.m., with classes beginning in Period 5.
Bus transportation will run for both arrival times.

✨ Alumni Connection: Billy Yameen, CAD Drafting, Class of 2015 ✨
Billy Yameen, a 2015 CAD Drafting graduate from Haverhill, has built a successful career in engineering and currently serves as a Lead Packaging Engineer at Cytiva. In his role, Billy works on developing and improving packaging solutions within the engineering and manufacturing industry.
Billy credits his time at Whittier Tech with giving him an early advantage as he entered the field. The combination of technical training, industry software, and cooperative education experience helped him build the foundation needed to succeed in a competitive engineering environment.
Billy reflects on how Whittier helped prepare him for his career:
“My education at Whittier prepared me for the engineering industry where work ethic, experience, and knowledge are important factors to personal success. I was years ahead in software and real-world expertise thanks to the structure of the curriculum and my coop experience.”
