The first Little Free Library has found its home! 📚
Whittier Tech students recently delivered the first student-designed and built Little Free Library to Georgetown, where it now stands outside the town’s police and fire station.
The library is part of a larger student-led project bringing 11 unique Little Free Libraries to communities throughout the Whittier Tech district. Students across several programs have contributed to the project, from designing and building the libraries to creating custom details and collecting donated books to fill them.
Each library is inspired by the history and character of the community it will call home, giving students the opportunity to put their technical skills to work while making a lasting impact beyond the classroom.
Georgetown is the first stop, with more communities to come! ❤️

Students in Ms. Desberg’s class are working together to explore how technology can impact children’s emotions, relationships, behavior, and ability to connect with others. Using evidence from two texts, students are developing thoughtful claims and strengthening their arguments with evidence.
Critical thinking, collaboration, and strong writing skills at work!

Whittier Tech’s sophomore Marine Technology students put their skills to the test this week, completing a major project involving the removal and reinstallation of a powerhead on a Yamaha 150 outboard engine!
By connecting lessons from their Yamaha Intro to Outboard Systems textbooks with hands-on repairs, students gained valuable experience applying their classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

Meet Ashley Mota, a Culinary teacher and proud Whittier Tech alumna from the Class of 2004!
Ashley is in her first year teaching at Whittier, but her culinary career has taken her around the world. One of her favorite experiences was working as an executive chef at Dedon Island Resort in the Philippines.
Now back at Whittier, Ashley says what she enjoys most is the staff and shares this advice with students: “Be safe and make smart choices.”
