From Whittier Tech student to Adult Education student, Sara Tashjian’s journey has come full circle! ✂️
A 2019 Business Technology & Marketing graduate, Sara knew exactly where to turn when she decided to pursue a career in cosmetology. Now more than halfway through Whittier Tech’s Adult Education Cosmetology program, she’s building her skills through hands-on experience with live clients.
One of those clients? Her former Business Technology & Marketing instructor, Amanda Crosby, who recently stopped in for a haircut!

Whittier Tech SkillsUSA students honored the lives lost on September 11 by participating in the 9/11 Memorial Services at the Haverhill Firefighting Museum.
Students assisted with setup and breakdown while also having the opportunity to be present for the remembrance ceremonies. We are proud of our Wildcats for giving their time in service to the community on such a meaningful day. 🇺🇸

Beginning Monday, September 21, Cosmetology seniors will welcome clients for services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m.–12 p.m. It’s a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience while providing services to the community.
The Cosmetology program is also proud to offer a Wig Bank in affiliation with the American Cancer Society, providing wigs to individuals experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Come support Whittier Tech’s future cosmetology professionals while helping students build their skills and prepare for their careers! 💇♀️

This week, we are proud to recognize Dave Cunningham, a longtime member of the Whittier Tech community whose impact spans decades.
From 1987 to 2011, Dave served as an instructor in the Data Processing and Office Tech Shop, where technology changed quickly, and students learned skills for an evolving world. Over the years, he also coached basketball, track, and cross country, served as a class and club advisor, and continued supporting students through Whittier’s Adult Evening Education program.
Dave remains proud of Whittier graduates and the ways they contribute to their families and communities. He is especially proud of the Night School team, instructors, administrators, and students who have helped make the program one of the state’s exemplary evening vocational programs.
Outside of Whittier, Dave enjoys traveling, downhill skiing, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
His advice to students: “Put down your technology and smell the roses.”
