This week, we are proud to spotlight Travis Gates, IT Technician and Whittier Tech Class of 2025 graduate.
Travis began in this role during his senior year through the Co-op Program and now serves full-time on our IT team. In just two years at Whittier, he has experienced the school from both sides, first as a student and now as a professional supporting the very community that helped shape him.
Travis shares that Whittier provides opportunities that students might not find anywhere else. He values the time he spent here as a student and appreciates that those same opportunities continue to help him grow every day.
His advice to current students is simple and sincere: "Get involved. Be active in the Whittier community. Join SkillsUSA. Meet new people. As a former SkillsUSA member, Travis describes it as the most impactful experience of his time at Whittier, one that helped build his confidence and lasting friendships."
Fun fact: Travis recently made a personal pledge to explore foreign countries, beginning with England. He plans to visit many more in the years ahead.

✨ Alumni Connection: Rich Langlois, Electrical, Class of 2010 ✨
Rich Langlois, a 2010 Electrical graduate from Haverhill, has come full circle at Whittier Tech. Today, he serves as an Electrical Evening Education Instructor in the Whittier Tech Evening Education Program, helping adult learners develop the skills needed to succeed in the electrical trade.
Rich built his career in the electrical field after graduating from Whittier and now shares his knowledge and experience with the next generation of electricians. Through the evening program, he helps students strengthen their technical skills and prepare for opportunities in the industry.
Rich reflects on the impact Whittier had on his journey:
“Whittier has helped me gain an edge of knowledge of the trade which made me excel in my career. It has been a pleasure teaching the next generation of electricians through Whittier’s evening education program.”

Several members of the Whittier Tech community attended the Newburyport Community Iftar last evening at Newburyport High School to learn more about Ramadan and connect with neighbors across the community.
Teachers Teri Bragg, Chris Cunningham, and Susannah DiMauro were among those in attendance. The evening also included a panel discussion featuring Newburyport educator Nancy Kreusser. Both Cunningham and Kreusser serve on the Newburyport Human Rights Commission.

Abigail Slevoski, a 2021 Carpentry graduate from Georgetown, is building her career in the trades with Premier Builders, Inc. She currently works as an Assistant Cabinetmaker and CNC Operator, where she contributes to the design and production of custom cabinetry and woodworking projects.
Abigail’s time at Whittier Tech helped prepare her for the hands-on work and problem solving required in the field. The skills she developed in the Carpentry program continue to guide her as she grows in her career and brings craftsmanship and precision to each project.
Abigail reflects on a lesson she carried with her from Whittier:

Known to many as “Ms. Mo,” Ellen is the person people turn to when they need guidance, support, or simply a kind word. Colleagues describe her as generous, patient, and endlessly supportive, always willing to help students and staff, no matter how busy she may be. Whether she is designing meaningful, real world learning experiences in financial literacy and entrepreneurship, solving a technology challenge, mentoring a colleague, or sharing a smile and a sweet treat, Ellen leads with heart in everything she does.
Her impact reaches far beyond the classroom. She lifts her students, supports her colleagues, and builds lasting relationships that define the spirit of Whittier Tech. To be in Ellen’s circle, as one colleague shared, is to be truly lucky.

Our Marketing and Business Technology students recently welcomed Alexandra Pitcher, Marketing Director for Simon Property Group, who shared an inside look at her work at the Northshore Mall.
Alexandra spoke about what it takes to market a large regional shopping center...from developing digital campaigns and leveraging social media and influencers to promoting events, retailers, and seasonal experiences that bring shoppers through the doors.
It was a great opportunity for students to see how the marketing concepts they’re learning in the classroom are applied in the real world while exploring potential career paths in retail and property management. 📈🏬
