A community tribute, brought to life through craftsmanship and collaboration.
Whittier Tech students and staff contributed to the creation of the commemorative plaque for the Deb Lambert Memorial Garden in Ipswich.
Advanced Manufacturing students completed the plaque, while CADDrafting students designed the layout used for laser engraving. Masonry students prepared the stone and secured the plaque in place.
The stone, sourced from a wooded area on Whittier Tech’s campus, was transported to the site by the school’s Maintenance Department following preparation.
This collective effort, alongside many community partners, now stands as a lasting tribute to Deb Lambert’s legacy, surrounded by more than 1,000 daffodils planted in her honor.

Today, we’re featuring Mrs. Amanda Crosby, Vocational Technical Coordinator for the Allied and Service Cluster and leader of Whittier Tech’s Adult Education program.
Mrs. Crosby has been part of the Whittier community for 11 years. She spent six years teaching Business Technology and Marketing before moving into her current leadership role, where she now supports programs across the Allied and Service Cluster while overseeing Adult Education.
What she loves most about Whittier is the strong sense of community. Living in one of Whittier’s sending cities allows her to stay closely connected, and she enjoys volunteering and supporting events and projects that bring the school and community together.
Outside of school, Mrs. Crosby has a sweet specialty. While she may not enjoy cooking, she loves to bake. Her most requested treat is a chocolate cupcake topped with cookie dough frosting.
As a vocational technical graduate herself, Mrs. Crosby reminds students that the impact of their high school experience often becomes clearer over time. The skills, relationships, and opportunities they build at Whittier can shape their path long after graduation.

Last week, Whittier Tech welcomed Sue Ellen Monaghan and Jon Claflin to speak with students in the Allied Health and Anatomy and Physiology classes, offering a powerful and deeply personal perspective on organ donation.
Sue Ellen shared the story of her son, Tim, who passed away in 2014 following a workplace injury. Through his decision to be an organ donor, Tim gave the gift of life to others, including Jon, who received his heart. Together, Sue Ellen and Jon spoke with students about grief, healing, and the life-saving impact of organ donation, as well as the medical journey behind transplantation.
Jon is also the father of Whittier Tech alumnus Sam Claflin, Class of 2019, making the visit especially meaningful for the Whittier community.
We are grateful to Sue Ellen and Jon for sharing their story and providing students with a powerful connection between their studies and real-world impact.
