✨ Alumni Connection: Jennifer Moustafa, Cosmetology, Class of 2011 ✨
Hair stylist and educator Jennifer Moustafa built a lasting career in the cosmetology field with roots that began at Whittier Tech. She brings more than fifteen years of experience from Wylde & Lowe Salon into her role as an instructor within the Whittier Tech Evening Education Program, where she mentors adult learners and the next generation of stylists. Her work reflects a commitment to craft, relationships, and the confidence that grows through continued learning.
Jennifer shares what this journey has meant to her:
“I consider it a privilege to have been working in the cosmetology field for over 15 years, with my education in the field starting here at Whittier Tech. I have met incredible people in my career, enhanced my craft, and have the distinct pleasure of teaching the future generation of stylists through Whittier’s evening education cosmetology program.”
The experience illustrates how Whittier Tech graduates continue working on their future by strengthening their profession and welcoming others into meaningful career pathways close to home.

Some mornings feel a little quieter than others.
As the sun rises over Whittier Tech, our campus is preparing for a week of midyear assessments. These moments of focus reflect the work students have been building toward all year through hands on learning, determination, and growth.
Wishing our Wildcats a strong and confident week ahead.

Let’s kick off 2026 together!
The Whittier Tech Alumni Council is gathering for its next bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 21, at 6 p.m. at Whittier’s Poet’s Inn Restaurant.
This is a chance for alumni to connect, network, and support one another. Bring business cards if you have them and share what you are working on, whether you own a business or simply want to reconnect and see what fellow alumni are doing.
Each meeting features a different theme or topic, and we would love to see you as we launch the 2026 series.
Questions? Contact Tia Gerber, Director of Community Partnerships, at tgerber@whittiertech.org.

Whittier Tech’s Employee of the Month for December is Tara Mcdonald (Cosmetology).
Ms. Mcdonald consistently steps up for students without hesitation. When a senior needed support, she took the time to fix his hair, teach him how to style it, explain which products to use, and even provide a sample so he could practice until he was able to purchase his own.
Moments like this reflect the care, mentorship, and real world preparation that define Whittier Tech. Congratulations, Ms. Mcdonald, and thank you for making a meaningful difference every day.

The Whittier Tech Multicultural Club is grateful for the generosity of the Whittier community. During an all school announcement on the morning of January 14, Amalia Manard thanked students and staff for their donations to the club’s Coats for Kids drive, which collected more than 25 coats and jackets for families in need this winter.
Club members Gecelis Mejia and Iandra Pichardo supported Amalia during the announcement, joined by Principal Chris Laganas. Emma Cruz also assisted by checking the donation box and bringing donations down for delivery to Anton’s Cleaners, which runs the Coats for Kids program.
“Muchas gracias,” “Obrigada,” and “Merci beaucoup” to everyone who contributed. This moment reflects the generosity and community spirit that define Whittier Tech.

Wildcat Wednesday is back, and we are kicking things off by introducing Jenny Greene, Whittier Tech’s Transportation Coordinator.
Jenny has been part of the Whittier Tech community since 2021 and stepped into her current role in 2024. If you ask her what she loves most about Whittier, she will not hesitate. The Poet’s Inn. Breakfast or lunch is highly recommended and yes, she is serious about the cookie.
A fun fact you will not forget. Jenny treated herself to a Grinch advent calendar filled entirely with socks and has zero regrets.
Her advice for students is simple and powerful. Do what makes you feel good and what makes you happy. Life is too long and too short to be miserable.
And one more thing to remember. Her birthday is April 4. She is counting on that email. 😃
We are so glad to spotlight Jenny and the important role she plays in keeping Whittier Tech moving every day.

✨ Alumni Connection: Adolfo Gonzalez Mateo, Electronic Robotics, Class of 2023 ✨
Honors student, entrepreneur, and emerging leader in pre-health, Adolfo Gonzalez Mateo carried the problem-solving mindset he developed at Whittier Tech into his studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he pursued Applied Biomedical Science while exploring marketing and entrepreneurship. Outside the classroom, he founded New England Regional Painters, a painting company serving communities across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, and he published Built in Silence, a memoir that examined pressure, identity, and perseverance.
Adolfo reflects on the lesson that continues to guide him: “Whittier taught me how to get comfortable not having the answer right away. You learn how to try things, mess up, adjust, and keep going until it works. That’s something I still use every day, no matter what I’m working on.” He is also developing an AI-based software tool designed to help immigrants understand and navigate complex documents, turning his experiences into technology that can serve others with similar dreams.
The journey illustrates how Whittier Tech graduates are working on their future through curiosity, resilience, and purpose driven innovation that strengthens both local communities and multistate opportunity.
