Exploring the pathways behind the profession.

Under the guidance of Ms. Ashley Rodriguez, Dental Assisting students visited Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine to gain a deeper understanding of careers in dentistry.

Students toured the clinic, participated in hands-on activities, and heard from undergraduate and dental students, as well as an advanced standing student, offering real perspective on the journey into the field.

Thank you to the Hispanic Student Dental Association for providing an experience that connects classroom learning to future goals.

Good form. Etiquette. Le savoir-faire.

After Culture Night, the work did not end. Members of Whittier Tech’s Multicultural Club sat down to write personal thank-you notes to the families who shared their cultures, traditions, and time.

Thank you to Principal Laganas, Mr. Hardy, and Ms. O’Reilly for their support, and to all the families and community members who helped bring Culture Night to life.

Each note is a reflection of appreciation and a reminder that meaningful experiences are built on community.

Stepping into the salon and sharpening their skills.

Whittier Tech Cosmetology juniors have officially moved down into the salon, where they are now working directly with clients and building real-world experience. As part of their training, students focused on one of the most essential tools of the trade, professional shears.

Shaun from Razor Sharp visited to share expert insight on proper care, maintenance, and sharpening techniques, giving students a deeper understanding of the tools they rely on every day.

Experiences like this ensure students are not only practicing their craft, but also learning the standards and skills expected in the industry.

Today, we’re highlighting Mrs. Rebecca Chronis, Math Teacher and undefeated faculty basketball player.

Now in her ninth year at Whittier Tech and her fifteenth year teaching high school math, Mrs. Chronis helps students build the academic skills that support their success both in the classroom and in their shops. She values the unique balance Whittier offers, where academics and career technical education work together to prepare students for the future.

Mrs. Chronis appreciates that Whittier provides so many opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop practical skills, and discover new passions. Whether through academics, shop experiences, or extracurricular activities, students are encouraged to think critically, create, and challenge themselves.

Her advice to students is to get involved and try new things. Stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to discovering new strengths, interests, and opportunities you may not have expected.

And one more fun fact about Mrs. Chronis. She is currently undefeated in faculty basketball, with a perfect 2 and 0 record. As she says, the record speaks for itself.

Thank you, Mrs. Chronis, for supporting students both in the classroom and across the Whittier community.

A new vision for career and technical education in Massachusetts is taking shape and Whittier is helping lead the way.

Superintendent Maureen Lynch recently co-authored an article in CommonWealth Beacon outlining how stronger collaboration between K–12 and higher education can expand access and better prepare students for high-demand careers.

For Whittier students, this work means more opportunities to earn college credits, industry credentials, and real-world experience.

✨ Alumni Connection: Dan Donahue Sr., Electrical, Class of 1976 ✨

Dan Donahue Sr., a 1976 Electrical graduate from Newburyport, has dedicated his career to the electrical trade and to serving his community. Today, he works as an Electrical Inspector for the communities of Salisbury, Amesbury, and South Hampton, while also giving back to the next generation as an Evening Education Electrical Instructor.

Throughout his career, Dan has remained closely connected to the trade he first began learning at Whittier Tech. In addition to his work inspecting electrical systems for local communities, he shares his experience and knowledge with students pursuing careers in the electrical field.

Dan reflects on his time at Whittier and the values that have stayed with him throughout his career:
“We had great teachers back then. Everything has changed so much, but some things stay the same, like the effort and dedication I put into my trade, the cities and towns I serve, and the students I teach.”
