Abigail Slevoski, a 2021 Carpentry graduate from Georgetown, is building her career in the trades with Premier Builders, Inc. She currently works as an Assistant Cabinetmaker and CNC Operator, where she contributes to the design and production of custom cabinetry and woodworking projects.
Abigail’s time at Whittier Tech helped prepare her for the hands-on work and problem solving required in the field. The skills she developed in the Carpentry program continue to guide her as she grows in her career and brings craftsmanship and precision to each project.
Abigail reflects on a lesson she carried with her from Whittier:
“Whittier taught me that being who you are is what will get you to where you want to be.”

Today, we celebrate someone who has quietly and powerfully shaped the Whittier Tech community for years, Ms. Ellen Petroccia, Financial Literacy Instructor, mentor, colleague, and friend.
Known to many as “Ms. Mo,” Ellen is the person people turn to when they need guidance, support, or simply a kind word. Colleagues describe her as generous, patient, and endlessly supportive, always willing to help students and staff, no matter how busy she may be. Whether she is designing meaningful, real world learning experiences in financial literacy and entrepreneurship, solving a technology challenge, mentoring a colleague, or sharing a smile and a sweet treat, Ellen leads with heart in everything she does.
Her impact reaches far beyond the classroom. She lifts her students, supports her colleagues, and builds lasting relationships that define the spirit of Whittier Tech. To be in Ellen’s circle, as one colleague shared, is to be truly lucky.
As Ellen prepares for her retirement in November 2026, we celebrate the legacy she continues to build each day through compassion, dedication, and unwavering care for others.
Thank you, Ms. Mo, for all that you give to our students, our staff, and our community. 💙

Alexandra spoke about what it takes to market a large regional shopping center...from developing digital campaigns and leveraging social media and influencers to promoting events, retailers, and seasonal experiences that bring shoppers through the doors.
It was a great opportunity for students to see how the marketing concepts they’re learning in the classroom are applied in the real world while exploring potential career paths in retail and property management. 📈🏬

Did you know?! Whittier is currently collaborating with Haverhill Community Action Inc. to provide a Welding ESOL evening education program through MassSTEP grant funding. Ten individuals are working hard five nights per week on a combination of skills, including contextualized English, employability, and welding. These adult students are showing up week after week and will wrap up in May, and will be looking for entry-level employment opportunities in the field of welding. Pictured here, you will see Instructor Chris Gerber giving a lesson on plasma cutting. The primary class instructors include Josh Merrill and Paul Webber. Keep up the great work, evening education welders! We know you will finish out the program strong.

A slightly delayed release… thanks to a few snow days ❄️ and February break doing their thing. But good journalism takes time (and apparently a few snow shovels), and our Journalism Club students worked hard to put together another great issue!
Check out the latest stories, features, and student voices in the February edition of The Wildcat. Great job to our talented student writers and advisor for making it happen! ❤️💛
